9.0.3 How can I test hosting services to determine a problem?

Here are some steps you can take to determine what issues are present that may cause you to not be able to connect to your web site or email services.

The following will allow you to determine “where” the issue is taking place. If the issue is somewhere between your Internet connection and our servers or if the issue is on the web hosting / email servers (which is very rare).

Go to the following web site (located in another part of the US) so you can test the connection from outside your local area.

http://centralops.net/co/DomainDossier.aspx

Put your domain name into the field marked “domain or IP address” (replace yahoo.com); select traceroute and service scan; and click GO.

If you get positive results then your web site and email services are online to the rest of the world and most likely the issue is with your own local Internet Service Provider (ISP) or your computer.

There are many other sites in different parts of the world that offer this type of service. Do a search on any search engine for "traceroute tools" to locate them.
