Authorize.net by Ricky 14. Jan 2002 16:41

I was needing to get some information on the credit card ordeal. As a reseller, how much does it cost me to get the authorize.net, for my customers. Also, how do they apply for this, and set it up to go straight to their accounts. Thanks again for your time, and will speak with you soon, just trying to get all the info. possible. Thanks again for your time.

Ricky

Re: Cardservice International by HostMaster 8. Sep 2002 01:16

As I understand it LinkPoint has two options. One is to enter the info online through their web site which is actually better than their PC Authorize program. The other is also called LinkPoint but it works in real time through the web site. We are looking to set up one of these this week in realtime for a new client that also uses card service Intnl.

I know the manual service with a machine or software program runs about $35 flat rate per month with the usual percentage and transaction fees on that.

FYI...........................

Cardservice has a program where you log into a secure part of thier site and enter the credit info online(almost like real time). I spoke to a rep the other day and simply put, with all the fees, I would pay $55 a month if I were to have no transactions for that month....the fees increment on a very small percentage of the total transaction....the best one out there so far that I have reviewed.
also, the monthly $55 covers 24/7 customer support by them

Thought you might like to know

Re: Authorize.net by HostMaster 14. Jan 2002 17:34

There are many credit card services; Authorize.net is only one of them. The shopping cart software has a free download available for any one of them of which your customer might already be affiliated. In that way your client does not have to change the way they are doing business.

Keep in mind that you do not need to do the processing in real time for most products. Most smaller stores that are online take the credit card info through the secure shopping cart software. Then they put it through their existing machines in their real store or office as they process the order.

Only a few people really need real time (get the authorization while online) service. Mostly, those who are selling a downloadable product or have enough sales volume in the shop to pay for the extra cost.

A standard processing fee (like Card Service International) would be about $40 monthly plus a small amount of the charge (of course the credit card company takes 2.5 to 4% too). An online real time service would be closer to $100 per month plus a higher percentage rate. They are all different and they all charge differently. Your customer would pay these people directly.

We have a special ASP program that can make the Authorize.net portion of the real time process appear as if it comes from the client's web site. Normally the browser leaves the clients site during the authorization process and then returns after giving out an authorization number. In order to get this we would have to be the cmapny that signs your customer with them.

The only needed element you would have to put in place would be an SSL certificate, so the browser will show a padlock during the credit card portion of the sale. You may want to look at the SSL certificate information at our web site for more on that. We would install that on the server for you.

Hope this helps.
